Obituary of Eric Despotovich

Despotovich, Eric, 81, of Lyndhurst, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  Mr. Despotovich was born in Hoboken and raised in Jersey City before moving to Lyndhurst in 1969.  Eric proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 - 1958 and upon his honorable discharge, worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and then the Department of Public Works in Lyndhurst for over 30 years, retiring in 2004.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 139 and enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling, the casino, the racetrack, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.  Eric is predeceased by his parents, Duchon and Mary Despotovich (nee Nagy) and by his brothers, John and George Despotovich. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Despotovich (nee Romano) and their loving children, Eric J. Despotovich and his wife, Deborah, Linda Evanik and her husband, Robert J., and Diana Joseph and her husband, John M., by his cherished grandchildren, Danielle P. Bilardo and her husband, Michael, Eric V. Despotovich and his wife, Carrie, Jenna M. Despotovich, Robert J. and Alyssa M. Evanik, and Christina M. and John E. Joseph, by his dear great grandson, Mikey Bilardo, and by his brother Alexander Despotovich.

Private entombment is under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ.  Please express your condolences to Eric's family by using our Tribute Wall.  In lieu of flowers, Eric's family requests donations be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society by clicking here.
