I’m so lucky to have been Sonny’s “other Son” - which is how he always introduced me to his local union brothers. Once grown, I tried to emulate his mentorship when it became my turn to do things like coaching Little League. The “pay it forward” approach.
The great times we had as Troop 201 Scouts under his leadership were special. Boating on the Hudson in “My Obsession” was epic. Especially being on the Hudson in the NYC harbor during America’s bicentennial.
For me, the conversations I had with Sonny discussing SciFi and philosophy were absolutely the most rewarding experiences of all.
Condolences to the family. I can’t make it there because of COVID. However, please rest assured that Sonny’s very positive influence remains strong within me.
