Agostino, Teresa (nee Mari), 87, of Brooklyn, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 6, 2023 after a brief illness.
Mrs. Agostino was born in Calabria, Italy. In her early teens, she emigrated with her parents and sister to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following that, in Mrs. Agostino’s early 20s, she emigrated with her family to the United States, first settling in New Jersey, and soon after to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where she lived the rest of her life. Mrs. Agostino worked as a seamstress for many years, and in January, 1959, she married Antonio Rocco Agostino, and they had four children, who she always called her “benedizioni” (“blessings”). She was predeceased by her beloved husband in 1989.
Mrs. Agostino kept a very busy life throughout all her years, and had many diverse interests, including cooking, gardening, sewing, entertaining, traveling and going out with friends and relatives, and her family. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Parish in Bensonhurst for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Agostino is survived by her loving children, Frank Agostino and his wife, Rosemary Azzaro, Rudolph Agostino and his wife, Annette, Marie Antoinette Vitale and her husband, Thomas, and Joseph Agostino and his wife, Beth, by her cherished grandchildren, Alexandra Bhutani and her husband, Nicholas, Brittany and Michael Agostino, and Giovanna, Ava, Cararose, and Patrick Vitale, and also by her great grandson, Nathan. She is also survived by her dear sister, Elvira Pisani, and by many loving nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, and friends in the United States, Italy, Argentina, and Australia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9:30 - 11 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Entombment, Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
