Not, how did she die, but how did she live?
Not, what did she gain, but what did she give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a woman as a woman, regardless of her birth.
Nor what was her church, nor what was her creed?
But had she befriended those really in need?
Was she ever ready, with words of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when she passed away

Growing up in Hightstown, Janie was my neighbor for 30 years. She was always smiling and so cheerful. I remember when I had my first baby, she gave us a wonderful package of J&J products and the most beautiful card. She also had such a lovely handwriting. You will be missed!
Joe & Lauren, our prayers are with you!

Our hearts are broken because you’re gone!
Our hearts rejoice because you were in our lives.
The insurmountable pain of losing someone who gave so much love to so many, leaves behind pieces of a broken heart.
One piece is missing . That’s where Janie lives .
As E.E. Cummings wrote, “ I carry your heart with me . I carry it in my heart.”
Janie was a powerhouse of a woman! So unique ! She beat the odds against cancer again and again!
But God looked down on her and decided it was time to come home.
You’ll see her smile and laugh! You’ll dream of her.
Like a healing salve, I pray that these memories will somehow help your grieving hearts.
To our dearest Janie:
“ May God hold you in the palm of his hand until we meet again.”
All our love,
Cousin Billy and Cathy

Every memory I have of Janie is filled with love and happiness. We traveled together, we went to the ballet together and we always laughed together. There was never a sweeter heart than hers. She always saw the good and was always there for everyone. She was truly one of a kind- a rare soul.

Janie has always had a special part in our minds and hearts. She is one of the kindest, sweetest, generous, most strongest and funny woman who loved her family and friends and showed it over and over. Not more of a beautiful person, inside and out, has ever existed. She will be missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN. Our hearts are aching and our eyes are weeping but our memories of her are and will remain vibrant. RIP beautiful lady. Until we meet again. Love to all, Jimmy and Kathy Southcomb

I met Janie in J&J’s corporate cafeteria after returning from a walk downtown with a “pain” in my eye. Janie recommended her eye doctor and got me a walk-in appointment that same day. A flying cinder made a crater in my eye…resulting in extensive treatment. Janie was my “angel” that day. May she rest in peace in Jesus’s loving arms.

Mrs. Paluzzi knows my sister more than me since Lauren and my sisters have been close friends since high school. Paluzzi- as I call her- is an adopted sister in our LaSasso family. I have one memory of Janie that stuck with me. It was at my sister’s ( Lauren) wedding. The bridesmaids were all in the bridal suite and my cousins and I could not get our bows of the bridal dresses tied correctly. I remember Janie walking in the bridal suite - all happy to come and see my sister and she popped in the bathroom and must have noticed we were having issues. She laughed at me trying and said to me “ get over here”, unwrapped what I attempted- and hung out helping me and my cousins. She made the bow look beautiful. As she was tying and wrapping the bow she was chatting with me and making me laugh.- commenting on my sons and how adorable they looked in their tuxes. Then she grabbed my cousin Mary saying “ you need a lot of help.”
It is such a simple memory- but it stuck with me - I just remember a bright, happy Janie walking in and taking charge making us all laugh in the process.

My memories of Janie go back many years and are happy memories , as a young girl, in Lyndhurst Nj.
She was a great orgnanizer,
in her backyard in Lyndhurst, games for children,
keeping them happy and safe in the pool.
Janie had a wonderful spirt always upbeat, happy
and positive, always a smile.
Janie was a ray of sunshine,
always happy to be with her.
She loved her Aunt Dot, her godmother. So much.
Aunt Dot, knew she was loved by Janie and always
told me she was blessed by her nieces and nephews
Aunt Dot was very grateful that she was cared for and loved by Janie
Janie and her sister always planted beautiful flowers for Aunt Dot garden, Aunt Dot loved her backyard
and enjoyed sitting in her backyard. Always entertaining family and friends, enjoying delicious meal on the patio, swimming in the pool, and having fun.
There is so much to brag about Janie,
Janie was amazing.
You know what I am trying to say about her,
caring, great character, kind and considerate.
Janie and Joe had a wonderful garden,
Aunt Dot enjoyed the harvest of fresh veggies.
There is so much to tell about Janie,
iI am so saddened by her passing, it difficult to keep my thoughts together, My mind keeps racing.
I will miss you Janie, you will live in my heart

I always remember Janie’s smile and graciously staying in touch with me. I remember her traveling with Aunt Dot especially making the trip to Cabo San Lucas so that Aunt Dot could celebrate my youngest son’s wedding to his lovely wife Renee.
