Lazaro Baluja Obituary

Baluja, Lazaro, 65, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.  Lazaro was born in Havana Cuba and immigrated to the states in 1968, settling in Washington Heights, NY.  He met the love of his life, Frida Ponce while attending Bronx Community College in 1978 and they married in 1981.  They lived in North Bergen from 1994 until 2019 when they moved to Lyndhurst.  Lazaro worked for the IRS out of Manhattan as an International Examiner.  Lazaro was always learning, soaking up a new hobby or interest, whether through reading or perfecting a trade and then moved on to the next discovery.  He loved running, and ran in the NYC Marathon in 2008,  AFTER he received the Parkinson's disease diagnosis.  His spirit and love of life will live on through his Frida and Christina and his family forever.

Lazaro's cremation was private and under the direction of Nazare Memorial Home Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.  His family ask that you remember him by making a donation in his memory to The Parkinson's Foundation at Parkinsons.org.  You may express condolences to his family by using our tribute wall.
